    Mariposite ia a variety of mica, which reveals an eye-catching green colour to the generally white marble in which it is normally found. It is the presence of chromium that gives it its distinguishing green colour.
     

    Mariposite is also known as Virginite or Aurora Borealis Stone. Found originally in California, USA, it is now also found in Canada and Europe. Mariposite is classed as a Phengite, a high silica variety of Muscovite. Mariposite is believed to be a stone that reduces stress and helps to maintain calm and balance.
